Canadian Amputee Golf Association http://www.caga.ca/
C.A.G.A. is the Canadian Amputee Golf Association and was formally incorporated (along with the acronym) with Industry Canada on October 18th, 2000. The Association was formed both Federally and Provincially. Anyone can, and is welcome, to join the Association for the betterment of amputee golf in Canada and to play in specific categories at any sanctioned C.A.G.A. event (i.e. Amputation Below Knee (BK), Above Knee (AK) Below Elbow (BE) Above Elbow (AE) Double Amputation (DBL) Triple Amputation (TRPL) Quadruple Amputation (Quad)). However, to share in the prizes at a tournament, players must be an amputee (i.e. they have lost a limb at a major joint through birth, injury, accident or disease). National Amputee Golf Association http://www.nagagolf.org/ An original group of 12 men with amputations was the nucleus of today’s national organization. Dale Bourisseau, a veteran of World War II in which he received his below knee amputation, looked up comrades with similar injuries and encouraged them to try golf — as a means of recreation and to re-enforce pride. Dale teamed up with Possibilities Unlimited, a group of people with disabilities formed in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to gathering players by word of mouth, Dale also traveled with golf clubs as part of his sales position. Eventually, the band of amputee golfers became regional, with friendly games developing into tournament play in various cities. British Amputee and Les Autres Sports Association http://www.britishamputee-opengolf.co.uk/ The history of The British Amputee & Les Autres Sports Association (BALASA) can't be looked at in isolation because it was born out of the amalgamation of three different associations. The British Amputee Sports Association (BASA), The British Les Autres Sports Association (BLASA) and the British Amputee and Les Autres Sports Federation (BALASF). The first of these organisations to be formed was BASA. Work started to formalise training weekends held at Stoke Mandeville as long ago as 1979 and in 1982, after a number of drafts, their constitution was accepted by the Charity Commission. European Disabled Golf Association Amputee Golf Australia http://www.amputeegolfaustralia.asn.au/ Amputee Golf Australia (NSW) Inc, was founded in September 2002, with t he help of the NSW Sports Council for the Disabled . Our aim is to promote golf as viable form of rehabilitation and recreation for amputees and to provide information to amputees of new developments and improvements of prosthetics . AGA organize s and host s regular golf events for amputees in Australia we also provide information and advice relating to other amputee golf events, throughout the world. Turke Club http://www.turke.co.za/ The Turke Club was established in 1989 by ex sports-men, who resolved to sow back all the years of pleasure that participation in sporting activities had given them. Thus, the Turke Club was created. Our main aim is raising support and awareness for disabled sport. We do this by participating in disabled sporting events as “able bodied” guests, raising funds and simply spending time with the disabled sports men and women. South Australian Amputee Golf Association President - Gary Hart http://www.saaga.org.au/ Scottish Disability Golf Partnership Jim Gales The Scottish Disability Golf Partnership is the only group in Scotland which actively encourages and involves anyone of any age, with a disability, serious health problem or mobility issue and their coaches, who wish to play golf and includes amputees, the blind, deaf, those with learning disabilities, Down's Syndrome, stroke and heart attack victims, wheelchair users and anyone with other similar issues, who wish to learn or play the sport. The SDGP has evolved rapidly in recent years and provides golf training and competition for many hundreds of people and is this year targeting youngsters and junior members in an attemplt to introduce them to the game. www.sdgp.co.uk Press office
